김지윤(1974~)은 현재 홍콩에 거주하며 사진&비디오 작업을 하고 있다. 작가는 본국을 떠나, 삶의 반을 뉴욕과 상해, 홍콩에 거주하면서 “Where are you from?”이라는 질문을 일상적으로 접하는 환경에서 살았고, 그래서 지속적으로 몰입하게 되는 주제는 늘상 이것이었다- 정체성. 더욱이 국제결혼을 통해서 아이들을 출산하고 양육하면서 작가 자신 뿐 아니라 가족안에서 정체성은 큰 화두가 되었고, 공원에서, 놀이터에서, 혹은 아이들 학교에서 국제 결혼으로 맺어진 가족들을 만나면서, 인종이 섞인 가족배경이 한 개인의 정체성 형성에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 궁금했다. 인종이 섞이고, 국경의 경계가 흐려지고, 정치, 경제, 문화 이유로, 유동적으로 이민자들의 수가 늘어나는 세계적인 변화를 감안할때, 과연 사람들은 자신을 어떻게 규정하며, 또 어떻게 타자들과 공생하는 관계속에서 자신을 누구라 정의하는지 집중해서 탐색하는 중이다. m〈other〉는 어머니와 국제결혼으로 출생한 아이들의 시각적 기록이며, 인문학적 접근방법으로 인터뷰를 병행한 아트 베이스의 리서치 프로젝트이다. 주요 전시로는 국내에서는 서울시립미술관, 토탈 뮤지엄을 비롯하여 해외에서는 로위아트 갤러리(뉴욕), 덤보 아트 페스티발(브루클린), 루미에르 갤러리(마카티), 솔루나 갤러리(홍콩) 등이 있다.

Born in Korea and currently living in Hong Kong, KIM Jeeyun(b. 1974) is a visual artist working mainly in Photography and Video. Having left her homeland, KIM spent half of her life in New York, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, where she often encountered the question "Where are you from?" in daily life. She has remained preoccupied with an enduring yet challenging theme, identity. Moreover, as a parent of children from an interracial marriage, belonging and identity also became a sensitive and significant issue to her family. KIM started taking portraits of mothers and their mixed children around her and collected stories of how interracial family backgrounds impacted their identity formation. Considering the global changes where the borders are blurred and the number of immigrants increases dynamically due to political, economic, and cultural reasons, KIM wonders how identity is formed in the contemporary world across the artificial divides of geography and cultures. From blended ethnicity, globalization and expatrification, to hyper-migration, she poses how individuals identify themselves and relate to Others. m〈other〉 project holds a mirror up to society and the world around us and impacts viewers socially, culturally, intellectually, psychologically, and personally. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Seoul Museum of Art, Total Museum in Seoul, Lowe Art Gallery in New York, Dumbo Art Festival in Brooklyn, Lumiere Gallery in Makati, Soluna Gallery in Hong Kong, and others.
