𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬: 𝙅𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙐𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙣 𝙈𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙃𝙖𝙡𝙡, 𝙂𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤

2026.05.22. Fri. ~ 2026.09.30. Wed.

Ahead of the opening of the Jerry Uelsmann Memorial Hall, Gimpo, scheduled for the second half of 2026, Museum Hanmi presents 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬: 𝙅𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙐𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙣 𝙈𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙃𝙖𝙡𝙡, 𝙂𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤 at Museum Hanmi Samcheong Annex.

Jerry Uelsmann (1934–2022) was a pioneering photographer who refined the technique of composite printing, combining multiple film negatives into a single image. Through this process, he expanded photography into a surreal realm where dreams, the unconscious, memory, and imagination intersect.

This exhibition features his iconic works alongside pieces created from photographs he took in Andong and Jeju during his visits to Korea, as well as images of works from the museum’s collection. Together, these works illuminate the special relationship Uelsmann maintained with Korea over the past two decades as one of the masters of 20th-century analog photography. In addition, the exhibition presents the design process and on-site footage of Jerry Uelsmann’s studio, which will later be recreated at Museum Hanmi Gimpo, offering visitors a preview of the vision and significance of the museum’s new Gimpo branch before its official opening.
