Museum Hanmi will present 𝙔𝙊𝙊𝙆 𝙈𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙜-𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙢•𝙃𝙊𝙉𝙂 𝙎𝙤𝙤𝙣-𝙩𝙖𝙞•𝙃𝘼𝙉 𝘾𝙝𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙠•𝙋𝘼𝙍𝙆 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜-𝙎𝙤𝙤𝙠 at its Samcheong main building from March 27 to July 19, 2026. This exhibition honors four artists who have expanded the horizons of modern Korean photography through distinct perspectives and approaches. Drawing on major series from the collection of Museum Hanmi, it revisits and illuminates each artist’s unique artistic world.

YOOK Myong-shim, through her 𝘉𝘢𝘦𝘬𝘮𝘪𝘯 (The Common People) series, has portrayed a wide spectrum of individuals who constitute Korean society, constructing a cultural and spiritual self-portrait of an era. HONG Soon-tai, who has documented Seoul—the city that has been the foundation of his lifelong practice—captures nearly five decades of urban transformation and reconstruction in his 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘨𝘺𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘰𝘯 and 𝘚𝘦𝘰𝘶𝘭 series, revealing layered dimensions of tradition and modernity, contradiction and harmony. HAN Chungsik, in his 𝘎𝘖𝘠𝘖 (Serenity) series, presents nature and landscape within restrained compositions, offering moments of contemplation and introspection through the language of photography. PARK Young-sook, through her early series 𝘗𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝟥𝟨 𝘍𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴, closely observes the faces of contemporaries, meticulously recording individual lives alongside the currents of the times that flow beneath them.

By bringing together these four artists—whose practices unfold across the axes of portraiture and nature, documentation and reflection—the exhibition retraces the accumulated textures of time within Korean photography and serves as a commemorative space to reconsider their artistic legacy from a contemporary perspective.
