Andong Culture & Art Center and Museum Hanmi jointly present 𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙪𝙢 𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙋𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝟭𝟵𝟰𝟯–𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, co-curated by Museum Hanmi and Magnum Photos, on view at Andong Culture & Art Center from August 14 to October 11. Organized to commemorate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France, the exhibition is a reconfigured version of 𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙪𝙢 𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙋𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝟭𝟵𝟰𝟯–𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, first presented at Museum Hanmi Samcheong in 2025. Bringing together approximately 90 representative photobooks and 130 original works by Magnum Photos, the world-renowned photographic cooperative, the exhibition offers an overview of the development of photographic art. It also presents a range of archival materials that illuminate the photobook-making process, including dummy books, plan sheets, and original prints. Through these materials, the exhibition explores how each photographer’s distinctive vision and storytelling take shape through the sequencing, editing, and design of images, ultimately transforming the photobook into an independent work of art. In doing so, it traces the visual narratives Magnum Photos has developed over the past eight decades and the broader evolution of modern photography.
