김태동(1978~)은 현재 서울에 거주하며 작업하고 있는 작가다. 도시를 탐험하며 이미지를 수집하고, 사진에 재현되는 새로운 시간성에 관심을 가지고 작업한다. 도시를 떠돌며 주변성을 관찰했던 초기의 도큐먼트 작업에서 중첩된 전쟁의 시간을 장노출 촬영으로 드러내는 최근 작업까지 역사적, 사회적 맥락을 기반으로 한 다양한 사진 실험을 진행해오고 있다. 국립현대미술관, 서울시립미술관, 인천아트플랫폼, 뮤지엄한미 등 국내 미술관을 비롯하여 하라 미술관(도쿄), MFA(휴스턴), 호주 전쟁기념관, 스미스 미술관(매사추세츠), Fotofest(휴스턴) 등 해외의 다양한 미술관과 기관에서 전시와 협업을 진행하였다. 일우사진상, SKOPF, 아마도사진상 등을 수상하였으며, 작품집으로 『Day Break/Break Days』 와 『PLANETES』등을 출간하였다.

KIM Taedong (b. 1978, Seoul) lives and works in Seoul, Korea. The artist explores a city to collect images and works on new temporalities that are reproduced in photography. From the early documentary works that wandered around a city and observed peripherality, to the late practices that portray the accumulated time of war with long exposure, the artist continues diverse photographic experiments based on historical and social contexts. He has been featured at National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA), Incheon Art Platform, Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA), and Museum Hanmi, as well as overseas art museums such as Hara Museum (Tokyo), Fotofest(Houston), Australian War Memorial(Canberra), Smith College Museum of Art(Massachusetts) and The Museum of Fine Arts(Houston). He has published collections of photography include Day Break/Break Days, PLANETES.
