정경자(1974~)는 중앙대학교와 동대학원에서 사진을 전공하고, 영국 에든버러 대학교에서 컨템포러리 아트 석사를 졸업했다. 제23회 광주신세계미술제 대상(2022), 제5회 일우사진상(2013)을 수상하였으며, 개인전 《다른 면》(뮤지엄한미 삼청별관, 2023), 《감각의 경계》(스페이스22, 2019), 《우연의 뿌리》(일우스페이스, 2014) 등 15여회의 개인전을 가졌다. 《Abwesen》(Weltkunstzimmer, 뒤셀도르프, 2022), 《Sounding The Gaze 구본창_정경자 2인전》(KP갤러리, 2021), 《예술가 (없는) 초상》(서울시립남서울미술관, 2018), 《서울사진축제: 창동, 사진을 품다》(플랫폼창동 61, 2017), 《역사풍경: 서소문동 37번지》(서울시립미술관, 2017) 등 여러 그룹전에 참여했다. 전남도립미술관과 고은사진미술관, 국립현대미술관 미술은행 등에 작품이 소장되어 있으며, 작품집으로는 『우연의 뿌리』(일우재단, 2014)와 『In between Something and Nothing 외』(Hezuk Press, 2012)가 있고, 수필집 『조용한 열정』(마음산책, 2004)의 사진 작업을 한 바 있다.

JEONG Kyungja (1974~) studied photography at Chung-Ang University and Graduate School, and graduated with an MA in Contemporary Art from the University of Edinburgh, UK. She won the Grand Prize at the 23rd Gwangju Shinsegae Art Festival Award(2022) and the 5th Ilwoo Photo Prize(2013), and has held more than 15 solo exhibitions, including Another Face (Museum Hanmi Samcheong Annex, 2023), Boundary(Space 22, 2019), and The Roots of Coincidence(Ilwoo Space, 2014). She has participated in several group exhibitions, including Abwesen(Weltkunstzimmer, Düsseldorf, 2022), Sounding the Gaze(KP Gallery, 2021), The Portrait without Artist (Nam Seoul Museum of Art, 2018), Seoul Photo Festival: Changdong, Embracing Photography(Platform Changdong 61, 2017), and Historicape: 37 Seosomun-dong(Seoul Museum of Art, 2017). Her works are in the collections of the Jeonnam Museum of Art, Goeun Museum of Photography, and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Art Bank, and the books include The Roots of Coincidence(Ilwoo Foundation, 2014) and In between Something and Nothing(Hezuk Press, 2012), and her photographic work is featured in the essay A Silence Passion(Maumsancheck, 2004).
