조진섭은 1984년 서울에서 태어났다. 시각디자인학과를 졸업한 후 KBS 대하드라마 특수영상팀과 VFX 회사에서 2년 반 동안 2D VFX를 담당했다. 이후 프랑스 파리로 건너가 Icart-Photo에서 공부했다. 파리에 머무는 동안 Paris와 Calais에서 아프리카 난민 사진 작업을 했고, 터키와 시리아 국경부터 그리스와 발칸 국가를 거쳐 독일로 향하는 시리아, 이라크 난민을 작업했고, 난민 중 독일에 정착한 시리아 청년 4명의 삶을 작업을 했다. 그리고 팔레스타인 웨스트뱅크 주민들의 삶을 사진으로 담았고, 2016년부터 2022년까지 미얀마 시트웨와 방글라데시 콕스바자르의 로힝야족의 삶을 담은 〈로힝야, 존재하지 않는 사람들〉이라는 작업을 했다. 2019년부터는 한국의 아프리카 난민 소녀를 만나 〈G의 나라〉를 작업하고 있다.

Jinsub CHO was born in Seoul in 1984.
He worked in Visual Effects(VFX) for KBS(one of broadcasting station in Korea) and a VFX company for 2 and half years after he got BA of the department of Visual Design.
He moved to Paris and studied in ICART-PHOTO. While he was staying in Paris, he worked with photographs of African refugees from Paris and Calsis. He also worked on Syrian and Iraqi refugees heading to Germany from the border between Turkey and Syria to Greece and Balkan countries. Among the refugees, he followed the 4 Syrian young men’s lives who settled in Germany and worked with photographs.
Other than that, he worked with photographs about the lives of people in Westbank in Palestine.
He worked, called "Rohingya, Non-existing Existence", on the lives of Rohingya people in Sittwe in Myanmar, and Cox’s Bazar Refugee village in Bangladesh from 2016 to 2022.
From 2019, he turned to the live of African refugee girl in Dongducheon, Korea, which is called “The country of G”.
