Museum Hanmi Gimpo Jerry Uelsmann Memorial Hall will open on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Situated on a hill in Gahyeonri, whose name 佳峴里 means 'beautiful hill,' Museum Hanmi Gimpo comprises Gahyeonheon, a traditional Korean hanok distinguished by its refined architectural form, a garden that reflects the changing seasons, and the Jerry Uelsmann Memorial Hall, where visitors can fully experience the artist’s creative world.

The Jerry Uelsmann Memorial Hall is dedicated to the work of American photographer Jerry Uelsmann (1934–2022), who advanced the technique of combination printing to create a single image from multiple negatives. Uelsmann’s studio and darkroom, including the six enlargers and tools he used during his lifetime, have been relocated and reconstructed at Museum Hanmi Gimpo. These spaces offer an immersive view of his creative environment and working process. Through permanent and special exhibitions, the Memorial Hall will present his major works alongside a wide range of archival materials. It will also offer darkroom programs that introduce visitors to analog photographic printing.

Bringing together the history and future of photography as well as tradition and modernity, Museum Hanmi Gimpo carries forward the legacy of Museum Hanmi, Korea’s first museum dedicated to photography. It also aims to establish itself as a leading cultural and artistic destination in the Gimpo region.
