𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙪𝙢 𝘽𝟭: 𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙍𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣

2026. 09. 01. Tue. ~ 2026. 09. 30. Wed.

Museum Hanmi presents 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙪𝙢 𝘽𝟭: 𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙍𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣, a screening program featuring Roger Ballen’s moving-image works, from September 1 to 30 on B1 of its Samcheong Main Building. Held during Kiaf and Frieze Seoul, the program offers a preview of Ballen’s solo exhibition opening this October.

Born in New York and based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Roger Ballen (1950– ) has developed a distinctive visual language encompassing photography, drawing, and installation while exploring the human psyche, the unconscious, and society’s margins. The screening presents seven films produced between 2012 and 2026, including documentaries and animations that reveal the contexts and creative processes behind his major photographic series.

The entire B1 level is transformed into a screening space and a stage for visitors to explore. Moving through different areas to encounter the works, visitors experience Ballen’s “mindscape,” where reality and the unconscious, image and imagination intersect. The program offers an early glimpse into his artistic world ahead of his solo exhibition in October.
